Cortona
First stop of the day, Cortona. You will roam around this medieval town, atop a hill in southern Tuscany. Full of elegant Renaissance buildings, it is a must-see for travellers.
First Winery
The winery is located in a country house that has belonged to the family since the 1600s and brought it back to its original splendor by keeping all its characteristics unchanged. The name “Canaio” derives from the nickname given to one of the ancestors who lived in the family estate and was called “Canaio” because of his great passion for hunting and thus for the high number of hounds he had. In small-medium sized companies like this winery, the production philosophy cannot be other than focusing on a single goal: quality. Every choice of the company is extremely important and implies absolute dedication and attention to every single detail. Here you will be served a typical Italian light lunch.
Second Winery
At this family-run winery situated at the base of the hilly Cortona, you will get immersed into the art of wine making. The family-run company was founded in the early 1900’s on the hills between Cortona and Montepulciano. From the heart of the farm, located at 360 a.s.l., you can see Lake Trasimeno and Mount Amiata you are going to explore the entire estate, tour the vineyards and wine cellars and understand the production process of Cortona wines. This winery has always been dedicated to the cultivation of cereals and legumes which are typical of the area. Nowadays this farm grows more than 15 varieties, including Fagiolo Zolfino, Fagiolina del Trasimeno, Fagiolo Etrusco. The farm cultivates Saffron and Aglione, also called "Garlic of lovers", and raises hives in the woods producing an excellent wildflower honey. Their interpretation of Syrah grapes has given life to world praised wines. During the wine tasting, you will taste a remarkable pallet of their best wines.
